And still I rise...

I came to win. To fight. To conquer. To thrive.
I came to win. To survive. To prosper. To rise.
To flyyyyy....

(Nicki Minaj w/ Rihanna: Fly)

Jus do it

Look who's back to blogging... Me!

Im 10 days deep into lent. #biwinning

And for those who are unfamiliar with this occasion, allow me to briefly explain: it is a 40 day period of sacrifice, reflection & prayer beginning on Ash Wednesday and ending on Easter Sunday. Typically I look at it as another chance to attack my failed new years resolutions; however, things are going to be different this year. I'm not going to say what I gave up but jus know it's big. It means somethin to me.

So far it's been easy. Idk if that means I'm well disciplined or that I don't have enough temptation. Either way, I'm going in (Lil Wayne voice)...

And yes when I feel weak, I pray/meditate about it.

I use this for inspiration and focus *Namaste*

And from this experience I hope to:
1. Enhance my spirituality
2. Develop some will power
3. Find a new and fun hobby (make good use of my free time)

Peace & Love

Concrete jungle where dreams are made of...

Ever wondered how you ended up in this exact place @ this exact time?

I finally made it back my beloved hometown of NYC in early Sept and I'm alil less than loving it. Let's just say...it's not what I expected. Off to a slow start. But hey, the tortoise won the race right? So I won't complain too much.

The bright side(s): wonderful cityview from my bedroom window, meeting new ppl, and lots of great NYC pizza #yummy.

Isn't it bee-you-tiful?!? (even better @nite. Twinkling lites)

Anyhoo... Besides the fact that my housing feels like a hotel room (sans the room service), I think I'm alil homesick for Atlanta. Not that I want to move back but I miss my mama :( We are super tight and now I have to use my iPhone 4 video calling to get regular doses of mother-daughter time #thuglife. Real thugs love their mom and are not afraid to admit it.

Well after a few self-therapy sessions (I'm a psych major this is what I do. Ask about me.) I've decided I need a job, a hobby and a man-friend. A girl has needs for $$$ and energy release. Know what I'm sayin?

Actually what I'm saying is I need a dream. Besides the whole Columbia U. studying situation, what else do I want to accomplish here? What can bring me tears of joy while in NY? So...

Mission: to prowl the newspaper ads, craigslist, and street billboards to find something of interest/value.
Toodles.

7 Minutes in Heaven...

I designed this blog to chronicle my life going from good to great. I came across this article on TRCB.com (which I found from someone I'm following on twitter @languageinga. I highly recommend you follow him if you're on twitter. Always posting really cool articles about happiness, self-esteem, and the like).
Anyway...the name of the article is "7 Questions You Must Answer to Have a Fantastic Life." I could answer some but not all. I guess that means I don't have a fantastic life...yet. So I'm challenging myself to discover what I really want out of life. Wish me luck!

1. What makes your heart beat with excitement?
-Traveling
-Fresh air & Sunshine

2. What would be one thing to make you happy?
-Owning a horse (or a Mustang convertible!)
3. What are you constantly thinking of day and night?
-Love

4. What do you want to do with the rest of your life?
-Smile

5. What makes you feel successful when you do it?
-Helping others solve problems
-Making someone else smile or feel good
-Finishing a book

6. What are your obsessions, passions?
-music/dance
-animals, especially dogs
-chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream

7. What one thing makes you jump for joy every time you do it or see it done by others?

It's okay to have multiple answers for a question. The response that shows up multiple times is what you live for.
As I come up with more answers I'll post them.

So what does a fantastic life look like for you?  I'd love to hear about it!

How Low Can You Go?

Apparently, I can drop it to the ground. Owww!

Yesterday I dragged my home-girl, Kamilah, to an exotic dance-fitness class. It was a lap dance class where we did plenty of body rolls for the abs and dips for the thighs and booty. It was the most fun I ever had working out. Because I was dancing (and oogling my goodies in the full-length, wall of mirrors) I didn’t feel the burn or realize I was breaking a sweat until 20 minutes into the class. But trust, she WORKED US OUT -HARD!!! It started with some warm up moves using a chair. It was hard. I almost fell out my chair in the beginning.  It takes a lot of balance, got to position your ass in the right spot at the edge of the chair. That makes it easier to lift your legs up and open (interesting visual for all the dirty minds out there). Next she taught us some moves, such as, floor rolls, the butterfly [not talking about the ol’ school dance. Alil more provocative], sexy struts and crawls, the windmill, etc, My fav was the clam shell where I was instructed to show off the “pearl” with this one ;). Then we put it all together in a sexy, seductive routine to the rhythms of "Rude Boy" by Rihanna (off the Rated R album). I must say I was impressed with myself. I just might show off my skills to a lucky someone. Hmmmm…..

I got into “sexy mode,” dropped it low, brought it back up nice n’ slow, and rocked that thing. I’m def going to add this class to my fitness routine. My Wednesday evenings are now booked.

PS: I think I have a lil girl-crush on the instructor ;) She is beautiful. Petite with a big butt-I need to know her secret. Don’t get it twisted I don’t like-like girls. I simply admire her talent and her flexibility. I also appreciate her willingness to teach/encourage other women to feel good about themselves. It takes genuine sex appeal and self confidence to bring it out of others.

Stay tuned for future posts about my progress in this class and videos.

Hola. Bonjour. Namaste.

I would like to thank anyone reading this...either u know me or want to know me and I appreciate your support.
I started this blogpage as way to creatively and "productively" spend my leisure time. I can be alil on the shy side and this page is a way for me to continue pushing out of my comfort zone.

I promise to only post interesting things (this will not be a daily diary kind of thing. more like a virtual scrapbook).
I promise to include as many pics as possible (ppl love visuals).
I promise to keep it beautiful

Since graduating from the spectacular Spelman College in May 2009, my life has become alil dry...I'm alil bored. Yes, I work. Yes, I party. Yes, I drink. Yes, I shop(alot! lol). However, I got this urge to do something else. Not necessarily instead of these actions, but in addition to. This blogpage is one of many new and different things. So the other day I started list of things I want to do before I turn 30 (much of it may be done by 25, but I think 30 is a good round age to feel accomplished in various areas). It's like a bucket list without the dying part. Here goes:

1. Go to a topless/nude beach
2. Write a love letter
3. Travel to 3 continents
4. Visit a psychic/fortune teller
5.Create a blogpage (check!)
6. Meet someone famous
7. Drive a luxury sportscar (even a test drive will suffice)
8. Cook a traditional Indian dinner
9. Learn to play golf and/or tennis
10. Publish a research article
11. Publish a poem (if I post it on this blog, does that count?)
12. Speak Spanish fluently
13. Volunteer in a different country
14. .....?
*this is a work in progress. I have it saved on my iPhone so I can update it as ideas pop into my big ol' head.

That list should give you an idea of the "adventures" I intend to document on this blog. I hope you can keep up?

Read then share your thoughts about my thoughts.
Please and thanks ;)
